Okay, Before I get into the actual Academy awards I'd like to address the war between Cablevision and ABC. For those of you who are unaware of this conflict, cablevision pays ABC approximately 200 Million dollars a year to be able to broadcast their channel, however Cablevision charges an extra 18 dollars to it's users to get the standard Channels, and ABC wants a cut and has demanded 240 Million a year. So on the day of the Oscars they stopped broadcasting the channel 7 Signal, but continued the Signal Halfway through the Academy Awards. Was this a smart move by Channel 7. I personally do not think so. I personally am considering Switching back over to fios. The Picture quality murders cablevision and the software on their digital box is much more user friendly.
Anyway on the the Awards; This year it was hosted by no other than Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. They were able to put a nice comedic twist on the ceremony. Ben Stiller even had the guts to dress up like a Navi from Avatar. Although Avatar was mentioned a lot, the majority of the time it was just bashful and sarcastic comments on the film (Avatar). There were also many comments toward James Cameron and his genius.
