Okay, Before I get into the actual Academy awards I'd like to address the war between Cablevision and ABC. For those of you who are unaware of this conflict, cablevision pays ABC approximately 200 Million dollars a year to be able to broadcast their channel, however Cablevision charges an extra 18 dollars to it's users to get the standard Channels, and ABC wants a cut and has demanded 240 Million a year. So on the day of the Oscars they stopped broadcasting the channel 7 Signal, but continued the Signal Halfway through the Academy Awards. Was this a smart move by Channel 7. I personally do not think so. I personally am considering Switching back over to fios. The Picture quality murders cablevision and the software on their digital box is much more user friendly.

Anyway on the the Awards; This year it was hosted by no other than Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. They were able to put a nice comedic twist on the ceremony. Ben Stiller even had the guts to dress up like a Navi from Avatar. Although Avatar was mentioned a lot, the majority of the time it was just bashful and sarcastic comments on the film (Avatar). There were also many comments toward James Cameron and his genius.

However when it came to best Director, and Best Feature Film, my fingers were crossed for Jim, however at my suprise and many others around the country Hurt Locker Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, stole both of these awards. A fun fact about Kathryn is that she is actually one of Jim's many Ex Wives. So James lost to an Ex. So on that account I claim FAIL. However why didn't James take home these awards. Why didn't the most successful film of all time not win best picture or best director. It had to of had that much success for a reason right? I haven't seen "The Hurt Locker" yet so I really can't say much. I just like everyone else knows that Avatar's Plot was very cliche. Many called it a futuristic Pocahontas. Others Say it was a Pocahontas meets Halo. However the advancements Jim made for this movie are to say the least Monumental. They have and forever will change the way we view movies, and even television and video games. He did spend more than 12 years producing this film as well. I mean for these reasons alone i think he should of taken home at least one award for this film.

Why? Why didn't he win the Oscar. This is my take on it. Personally I believe that the reason why he didn't take it home was because of the level of it's success. James Cameron was able to create a whole world and civilization on a computer. Now what happens when they stop making live action films and go towards this route? I'll tell you what happens. It puts a lot of people out of a job. Actors will be replaced by Polygons, Camera Men will be replace by a machine or a virtual camera, and the Set builders, Fashion Designers, and Makeup Artists will all lose their jobs to a computer. Why do you think there are only a few self-checkout counters at Wallmart? It's their to be able to keep people employed.

So did James Deserve Best Picture, and best Director. I on a personal note believe he deserved at least one. My Verdict : the Academy and Hollywood is afraid of losing their job to James Cameron's Computer. =) . So James, Congrats regardless. You have changed to world sees cinema.
